Strong Earthquake in Venezuela

Strong 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquake struck Venezuela on June 24 and 25 trapping people beneath the rubble of collapsed buildings and setting off powerful aftershocks. 
Here’s an update on the impact of the earthquake in Venezuela.

1. Airport / Ocean Port

Simon Bolívar International Airport (CCS) in Maiquetia, near Caracas remains closed after serious damage from the twin earthquakes of June 24 and 25. There is a collapsed section of the terminal roof, debris on the floor, and evacuations, but the full extent of structural damage — including runways, taxiways, control tower, and other facilities. As of now, there is no official statement confirming when inspections will be completed or whether flights will be reinstated.

The Port of La Guaira is currently experiencing highly restricted access and disruptions. Commercial port operations are continuing, however, the port has been militarized, and is subject to heavily restricted access. Significant delays are anticipated.

2. Delivery

As massive landslides cut off key mountain passes and rescue routes between La Guaira and Caracas, cargo delivery is almost impossible at this moment.

3. Nippon Express Shipments

Nippon Express shipments are significantly impacted by the powerful earthquake, and long delays are anticipated. Please be advised that shipments to Venezuela (CCS) are suspended until further notice.

4. Total Cargo International (Agent in Venezuela)

Office remains closed until further notice.
